Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma proudly welcomes our new board members who are all committed to upholding the Goodwill mission of helping people overcome challenges to employment. The revenue from our donations goes back into the central Oklahoma community by providing jobs and resources to transform lives through the power of work. This ever-evolving mission statement wouldn’t be possible without people like our uncommonly good new board members. Each of these new board members has extensive background experience and insight that we are confident will help achieve our mission.
A Closer Look At Our Four New Board Members

Mick Cornett
Some of you may know Mick Cornett as the former mayor of OKC, criminal justice reform advocate, higher education professional and a mathematician. With Cornett being a part of our Goodwill team, he will offer new insight in how to better achieve the needs of the central Oklahoma community. Cornett was the longest serving mayor with a 14-year term and has been praised for his part in Oklahoma’s expanding economy. During his term, he produced more than 100,000 new jobs, helped secure Oklahoma City’s $777 million quality-of-life infrastructure program as well as helped to build up over 9,000 new businesses. In fact, in 2012 he was named one of five of America’s most innovative mayors.

Natalie Cooper
With more than 20 years of experience in the criminal justice system, Natalie Cooper is the definition of a second-chance employer. Starting out as a security officer and climbing the ladder to the role of Chief of Security, she has been named the Correctional Officer Supervisor of the Year, given the Outstanding Criminal Justice Research Project Award from Mid-America Christian University, all while being on the board of several organizations that include American Correctional Association, Oklahoma Correctional Association, the Association of Women Executives in Corrections, and the Wardens Exchange and Association of Women Leaders and Executives. Her experience and insight will further the mission of Goodwill by increasing the organization’s impact as a second-chance employer. We are proud to welcome a strong woman such as Natalie Cooper.

Ann Ackerman
Oklahoma Business Roundtable CEO and President, Ann Ackerman has joined our board at Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma, offering her experience and insight as a successful Oklahoma higher education mathematics leader. With over 25 years of experience, and a doctoral degree under her belt, she was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame, all before she became the CEO of the economic development support organization as well as the CEO of Leadership Oklahoma. In 2014, she was named one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Oklahoma City due to her ability to balance her esteemed career, involvement on the board for more than 50 civic and nonprofit organizations in Oklahoma and maintaining a healthy personal life.

Jessica Martinez-Brooks
Jessica Martinez-Brooks, who has over 20 years of experience in college education, is a former Director of Diversity and Enrichment at the University of Central Oklahoma, and has recently been named the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Transformation at the Metro Tech. Her huge impact and influence in higher education will bring a diverse and passionate new perspective to the teaching and training of the associates at Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma. We are confident that she will be a big asset to our board.
