Goodwill Week 2025 – A National Celebration of Changing Lives Through the Power of Work
Every spring, Goodwill organizations across the United States and Canada unite in celebration of Goodwill Week — a nationwide observance held annually during the first full week of May. It’s a powerful reminder of what Goodwill stands for: transforming lives through the power of work.
This year, from May 4–10, Goodwill Central Oklahoma is joining Goodwills across North America to spotlight the life-changing impact of employment, job training, and skills development. Locally, we’re inviting our community to “Be A Force for Good” and take part in events and initiatives designed to uplift our neighbors and support career advancement.
🔵 What Is Goodwill Week?
Goodwill Week is more than just a local event — it’s a national movement that honors the collective mission of over 150 community-based Goodwill organizations. For over 120 years, Goodwill has been helping people secure meaningful work, gain independence, and support their families.
Across the country, organizations use this week to shine a light on the individuals building better futures — often with the help of job training programs, digital skills workshops, community partnerships, and support services made possible by donations and retail revenue.
It’s also a time to recognize the everyday supporters — donors, shoppers, volunteers, and advocates — who make this mission possible. Because every act of support helps Goodwill continue to create opportunities for people to thrive.
🌍 Local Impact: Goodwill Central Oklahoma’s Commitment
Here in Central Oklahoma, we’re turning the spotlight on the incredible work being done in our own backyard. In 2024, Goodwill Central Oklahoma helped place approximately 1,400 Oklahomans into jobs, giving individuals a renewed sense of purpose and a path to economic stability.
Our programs include:
- Employment placement and coaching
- Job training and certifications
- Digital literacy workshops
- Support through partners like the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Pivot
- Mobile Learning Lab services that bring education directly to rural and underserved communities
Through these services, we help bridge the skills gap and prepare Oklahomans for today’s job market — all funded through your generous donations and shopping support.
⚡ Be A Force for Good: How You Can Make a Difference
This year’s theme, “Be A Force for Good,” invites everyone to take action — because every act is an act of giving. Whether it’s donating a bag of clothes, shopping at a Goodwill retail store, sharing a story, or learning about our mission, your involvement creates real, lasting change.
Here’s how you can participate in Goodwill Week 2025:
- 🍿 Join Goodwill at the movies: Join us at Winchester Drive-In for the Goodwill Week kickoff donation drive on May 4! Bring one 13-gallon bag of donations to receive entry of one vehicle to the Sunday night movie, Thunderbolts.
- 🛍️ Shop: Support by shopping at your local Goodwill store this week (May 4-10) and score a limited edition tote bag when you spend $50 or more! While supplies last.
- ♻️ Donate: Clean out your closet and give items a second life—and a second chance for someone else. When you donate to any OKC metro location, you’ll earn a discounted OKC Comets Baseball ticket! For a list of participating metro stores and donation centers, click here.
- 🪙Give: Your monetary donations empower our mission and allow us to fund the services our community needs to learn and earn, transforming their lives through stable employment. Give here any time of the year!
