Goodwill Receives Grant to Advance Job Training
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Arvest Foundation recently awarded a $10,000 grant to Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma.
In a release, the foundation said Goodwill was chosen because of its ongoing work in providing training for people to fill high-demand jobs. The grant will help Goodwill to cover fee waivers for its Goodwill Career Pathways Institute.
“It is because of generous donors in our community that Goodwill can provide access to training to those who need it most,” Goodwill Director of Training and Employment Services Amara Lett said. “Our training can often be completed in as little as one day and offer income gains to many of our clients up to six more dollars per hour.”
The Goodwill Career Pathways Institute offers micro-credentialing certificate programs, which are accredited through the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. Current programs include an introduction to restaurant management, virtual reality forklift training, warehousing and inventory logistics, and network cabling, among others.
